Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma

Trauma is one word with many representations to clients. There is physical trauma, the type that takes you to hospital for surgery, there is trauma from abuse, there is trauma from a childhood of not being loved, there is trauma from a one off event or from a series of events. Tying to understand what goes on for people who have experienced trauma (in the past) who are still displaying signs of it (in the present) is often part of the work we do.

There is a lot written about the physiological impact of trauma, but the most accessible I have found so far is by Janina Fischer whose book Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma explains the interplay between the brain’s response to trauma, the physiological response and what you can do to help process this trauma.

There is more information about the research and work Janina does click on her website, click here.
