Understanding Anxiety

We are living in anxiety provoking times and yet how much do we know about the function of anxiety and how best to support ourselves and our young people. While we all experience anxiety sometimes, there are times when the worry and stress can feel difficult to manage as it begins to impact on different aspects of our lives.

We have therefore designed a two hour workshop for parents, caregivers or teachers. The workshop will explore:

  • what survival stress is and its impact,

  • how the brain and body create anxiety &

  •
practical tools to help support mind and body.

The course is designed and developed by Claire Glover (PGdip MBACP) and Helen Hambleton (PGCE PGDip MBACP) who are both qualified counsellors with an educational background. They have both worked extensively with anxiety and are passionate about sharing the latest neuroscience in an understandable way to help parents support themselves and their young person.

Information about out next course is available here and a more detailed course content here.

We are running a number of workshops across York and Yorkshire and are always happy to explore options to bring them to different communities or schools. If you are interested in finding out information about the course please email: Claire@yorkcp.org

“ Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, growing numbers of young people were experiencing high rates of clinical-level anxiety …. But during the pandemic, those numbers nearly doubled, such that 20.5% of youth worldwide now struggle with anxiety symptoms”.
